Engineering consultancy TEKS UK R&D is enjoying a double celebration, with cause
to rejoice about both its recent expansion and the news of their client’s success
in the recent Le Mans 24 Hour sports car race.
TEKS were approached to produce the composite rear diffuser parts, used on REBELLION
Racing’s LOLA B 10/60 COUPE-TOYOTA cars. The diffuser components were made from
carbon fibre prepreg and aluminium honeycomb cured in one stage in an autoclave,
additional fitting and bonding of external components was then undertaken before
successfully shipping the 8 diffusers to be raced at Le Mans.
TEKS’ important contribution helped REBELLION’s Nicolas Prost, Neel Jani and Jeroen
Bleekemolen to drive their #12 Lola-Toyota to the checkered flag in sixth place
overall and first place of the LMP petrol cars.
The Lola project was completed shortly after TEKS had moved into its new premises
on the Poplar Business Park in Rotherham. The company, part of the French owned
TEKS Sarl Group, opened its UK operations last spring in the AMP Technology Centre
at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP).
At that time research and development manager Roland Krain was establishing the
business, but after a successful first year of trading TEKS have now grown to a
team of three, and needed additional space to operate.
TEKS expertise includes machining optimisation, manufacturing improvements, analysis
of material properties, and knowledge of improving product sustainability. They
offer a range of services and solutions, including prototype manufacture, contract
machining, 3D scanning and a QES (Quality, Environment and Safety) consultancy.
As Roland says; “The past year has been really successful for the business, and
whilst the AMP Technology Centre was a great location from which to establish the
business, we now need more space. Our new unit provides us with that extra room
and with the bonus that we’re still literally just down the road from our partners
and customers on the AMP.
“It’s good to know Nick Court and Guy Contrafatto are on board, as their expertise
has really expanded the company’s capabilities. We have clients ranging from major
aerospace companies to motorsport teams and local engineering SMEs; furthermore,
we have recently completed a rapid prototyping job for Nikon.”
Roland believes that the companies’ success is due to the strong analysis and problem
solving expertise that they can provide clients, particularly smaller clients who
may not have the required knowledge in-house.
